WBC Silver lightweight champion Ryan Garcia took to social media and continued his highly publicized feud with YouTuber Jake Paul. The two high-profile figures have no love lost for each other and use social media to throw verbal barbs. What’s more, they’re both tracking towards different spheres professionally. However, they continue to lock horns.
Ryan Garcia is no stranger to making enemies outside the sport of boxing, and he enjoys the back-and-forth banter. Chiefly, he spent most of the summer going back and forth with former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo. Garcia’s not afraid to tussle with anyone and with his YouTube channel kicking off, Jake Paul was an obvious target.
The beef between the two has largely taken place over various social media platforms and has involved their respective fans. Moreover, Garcia’s recent post continues this trend as he calls out Paul for a charity match to make 2020 worth it.
The discourse between a boxer and social media star has rubbed some hardcore fans the wrong way. Although, some might say that Jake Paul is on his way to making a full-time transition to boxing.
With bouts such as Floyd Mayweather vs Logan Paul and Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao in the pipeline, the boxing landscape has changed. ‘Fantasy feature fights’ are all the rage, and the drawing boxing office numbers are a testament to that. Combat sports loyalists prefer to stick by the meritorious system that boxing evolved on.
